Jagathamba Govender, born on the 02 nd March 1935, was the second youngest daughter of the late Mr Runga Pillay and Mrs Thyanayagee Pillay. She was born and raised in Cato Manor, Mayville where she was educated both in the English and Tamil languages. She was raised in a very humble and religious family.

On the 30th December 1962 she married Moonsamy (Ganes) Govender in the Mount Edgecombe Temple Hall. After renting in different places, they purchased their own property and home in the township of Phoenix in June 1979.

Here, she continued her duty as the role model house wife and mother, raising her children with spiritual understanding, love, forbearance and the desire to serve community. She led her children under spiritual direction by Guru Krishna Naidoo of the Sathie Sanmarka Sungum of RSA, who instilled in them spiritual vision, hunger and passion.  This led to the opening of the Shri Suria Narayan Temple of Phoenix and the Shri Vinayaga Praathanay Kootum of Midrand, under where she served and worshiped full time until her calling back home, back to the Kingdom of Arthie Parashakthie on the 13 th April 2007.

She was faithful till the very end, she persevered. She gave her all without reservation. She was totally selfless and did exactly what Arthie Parashakthie required of her. She spoke volumes through her life here on earth and will speak even greater than that through her impacting upon her children. All we can say now is:

“WELL DONE THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT!”

She leaves behind her beloved husband; Ganes Govender, her sons; Deena & Amerasen, her daughters; Sagrie & Kumarie, her daughter-in-law Priscilla, her grandchildren; Chaniel Kim;  Dameon Shivaan; Ashton Krisnan, her sisters; Saras Naicker & Daya Iyer, her brothers; Sunny Pillay & Gopaul Pillay, her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends and the entire family of the Shri Suria Narayan Temple of Phoenix and the Shri Vinayaga Praathanay Kootum of Midrand.
